<p>In Lysander, right here in the 126th district, a company called Ranalli Super DC LLC is proposing to build a 300-megawatt hyperscale AI data center over the objections of our local community.<strong> AI data centers have been shown to </strong><a href="/43c10589-0698-45af-99d4-cefbcb292606"><strong>increase utility costs</strong></a><strong>, deplete our water supply, and pollute the air and water. AI itself is an unproven technology, whose proponents claim will render many jobs obsolete.&nbsp;</strong></p><p><br>We don’t need AI data centers in our district. We’ve lost enough jobs, and the promises AI data center developers make can’t be backed up with facts. Ian supports the Governor’s executive order placing a 1-year moratorium on data center development, but we need to go further. <strong>In the Assembly, Ian will support legislation that stops data centers from being built until they are proven safe and beneficial to our communities. </strong></p>

<p>AI companies want to build massive data centers in our district. This is an untested technology with potentially massive impacts on jobs and quality of life. <strong>Ian supports the current one-year moratorium on AI data centers </strong>in New York, but thinks we need to go further. AI data centers cause higher utility rates and pollute water and air quality, and they have no place in our communities.</p>
