State Assemblyman John Lemondes a no-show a second time for local library event

BALDWINSVILLE, NY – On July 11th, NYS Assemblyman John Lemondes (R-126) failed to appear at a scheduled “Lemondes Listens” event at the Baldwinsville Public Library. A staff member was present but offered no explanation as to the Assemblyman’s absence.

Lemondes advertised the event two days earlier on his public Facebook page as an “opportunity to meet with him and his staff in person.”

“John Lemondes is a no show in Albany and he is a no show in Central NY. He's always been an absentee assemblyman, but now since his failed run for Congress, he's not even showing up for his own events.” said Ian Phillips, candidate for the 126th Assembly District.

Ian Phillips attended the non-listening event and recorded a Facebook live account of what he hoped to ask: Facebook live.

This is the second time Assemblyman Lemondes has failed to appear at such an event. The first event, co-hosted by the Lafayette Public Library, was advertised on Facebook beginning on June 11th as “informal discussion with local residents” and a “great opportunity [for constituents] to speak directly with [their] New York State Assembly representative, ask questions, share concerns, and discuss issues that matter to [them] and [their] community.”

On June 22nd, the day before the scheduled event, Assemblyman Lemondes advertised it on his campaign Facebook page, calling the event “Lemondes Listens.” Constituents were encouraged to attend the event for the opportunity to “personally talk to the man himself!”

After waiting over 35 minutes, a small group of residents were informed that neither Lemondes nor a member of his staff would be attending. They were not given a reason. On June 26th, Lemondes posted that he would be “holding a make-up Lemondes Listens event at the Lafayette Public Library on Thursday, July 2nd.” He did attend that event.

Lemondes is a resident of Lafayette.

Attendees of both events reached out to the Phillips campaign and are available to talk to interested members of the press.
